17. Divorce and RemarriageWe believe that God dislikes divorce and intends that marriage last until one of the spouse dies. Divorce and remarriage is regarded as adultery except on the grounds of fornication or desertion or if one of the spouses dies. Although divorced and remarried persons or divorced persons may hold positions of service in the church and be greatly used of God for Christian service, they may only be considered for the offices of pastor or deacon under the council of the pastor or chosen men of faith who will scripturally consider the matter.
